1. IF[ 짝맞추기 / 직설 ]
- 현재 If I study harder, I will get a good grade.

- 과거(현재사실을 가정) If I were a bird, I would sing a song.
* 직설법 현재 : As I am not a bird, I don't sing a song.
- 과거완료(과거사실을 가정) If I had been a bird, I would have sung a song.
* 직설법 과거 : Since I wasn't a bird, I didn't sing a song.
- 혼합가정법 If I had studied harder, I would be a doctor now.
*because I didn't study harder, I am not a doctor now.

* If it were not for(없다면)        =   were it not for, without, but for
If it had not been for(없었다면)  =   had it not been for, without, but for

without water, we would have died.
